We recently participated in The Great Urban Race, an Urban Adventure and Scavenger Hunt Race. We did the Houston location, thinking this would give us an advantage since we know were most places are. The clues weren’t super tough, like the examples on the web site, but we did have 2 other teams we were in alliance with, The Thing-a-Ling’s and The Balderdashers. We started at Lucky’s Pub. Once the clues were handed out, we took our time to solve each one to make a plan of attack. We made our way through downtown. Out of the 12 clues that were given, we could only skip one without being penalized. We could not use private transportation, bikes, taxis, rollerblades, etc. We had to use our feet and public transportation. Good thing for me, my strong husband was able to piggy-back me once my legs were getting tired. Overall, we had a great time. We saw parts of Houston we have yet to see and rode the METRO bus for the first time in our lives. My husband did say he would take me as a partner on Amazing Race if we were ever on the show. So I did prove to him I’m a worthy partner. Check out more pictures on flickr.
