Day 10: Childhood memory

One memory that stands out for me is during Vietnamese New Years, we used to play Bau Cua Tom Ca, loosely translated “Gourd, Crab, Shrimp and Fish.” From wiki: Bầu cua tom ca is a Vietnamese gambling game using three dice. The six sides of the dice, instead of showing one to six pips, have pictures of a fish, a prawn, a crab, a rooster, a calabash gourd, and a stag. Players place wagers on a board, betting on which pictures will appear. After eating and giving of lucky money, we’d gather around and take turns being the dealer. We wouldn’t spend lots of money but it was always a ton of fun.

Day 9: Someone you love

This was easy peasy, I just had to wait for the hubby to come home from work. The two loves of my life. My sweet Sadie waiting for a delicious pear and my loving hubby.

Day 8 :: A Bad Habit

Oh boy, this was a tough one. I’d like to think of myself as on the up and up. ;) I most often make the right choices in life. But, my biggest weakness is chocolate. I’ve been on this crazy diet since May of 2011 that restricts everything sweet. While at the farmer’s market, I met a nice gentleman that was selling homemade cakes and he even offered a gluten-free option. I had to try it and boy was it moist and delicious. I have not finished the cake yet, trying to savor it for as long as I can but boy is it good!

Day 7 :: Fruit

Let me start by saying, I did not forget about the challenge. On the weekends, it’s harder for me to get on the computer because I like to stay away as much as possible.

On Saturday, we headed out to one of the local farmer’s market in town, The Imperial Sugar one. I thought to myself, “what a great place to take some fruit pictures.” And I was right. Please enjoy a photo from a satsuma orchard.

Day 6 :: Low Angle

For today’s shot, I had to wait for the hubby to come home to help me set up the shot with my Sadie. She’s such a patient little doll.

Day 5 :: High Angle

I apologize for the late post but I had a lot of difficulty thinking of a subject matter for this challenge. I decided to photograph my sewing machine. I’m always sitting in front of the thing and looking at it from the front but never have I seen what it would look like from above. Very interesting indeed.

Day 4 :: Something Green

Today’s challenge was a little difficult but after looking out my window to look at my garden, it was a piece of cake. Surprisingly enough, most of my garden survived through some of the cold temperatures. The photo is of a green onion stalk.

Day 3 :: Clouds

Today’s challenge was a difficult one, not a cloud in the sky. It was a cool 54°F outside with clear blue skies. So without a real cloud in the sky, I had to do some creative thinking.

Day 2 :: What I wore today

Today’s challenge was to take a picture of what I was wearing. It was a lazy kind of day. We went to play with my nephew since the hubby had the day off. A great day to be outside.

366 Day Photography Challenge :: Day 1

To start the New Year off, I decided to challenge myself to capture a photo of each day in 2012. Mainly for me to chronicle my memories and to challenge my creativity. I plan on starting with a photography challenge I found back in the summer time and then go from there. For Day 1, the challenge was to do a self-portrait. I struggled with this one a bit because I didn’t want to just take a photo of myself and be done with it. What I decided to do was photograph objects that make me who I am.

1. My love for design

2. My faith and belief that God has a path for me

3. My parents, who I love and adore

4. My hubby, without him, my life is incomplete

5. My love for sewing, something that started as a way to pass the time has made me love to make bags and purses

6. My Sadie, almost 3 years ago we rescued her from the Houston SPCA, I could not imagine my life without her

7. My computer, without it, I am truly lost. ;)
